Color Palette: Navy and Green

Black and green have been a popular color palette for some time, but why not mix it up a bit, and replace black with navy blue? I love this combination and think it would be perfect for a wedding any time of the year. Black is a fairly limiting color, as far as spring and summer weddings go, but navy blue looks beautiful any time of the year. For the green, I love the idea of incorporating fruit to showcase the color, as seen on the board in the tomatoes, the pears on the cake, and the pears, apples and grapes in the centerpiece.

This color palette is for one of our readers. She is planning a Christmas time wedding and wanted to use lilac, light pink and silver as her colors. Below is the board I created for her with a few reception decor ideas for her celebration.

A few reception ideas
- A fun way to incorporate the silver into your reception decor would be to use vintage silver pitchers or other silver wares. You could put flowers in them, or just group them together.

- I've always loved elegant candelabras. These could go on dinner tables, or around the room for a romantic candle light effect.

- Placing a flower, or small arrangement at each place setting helps to decorate the table and make each setting a little special.

I was wondering if you could help me with a color palette for my daytime October 25th wedding in Charleston, South Carolina. My problem seems to be that I like too many color schemes and can't decide on one particular one! We're going to be serving paella as the main course meal. This color palette is for one of our readers, Linda. We helped Linda with a color palette for her wedding, which we featured a couple months back. Now Linda is throwing a birthday party for her grandma, and wants a little help with some color combinations. Linda writes:
You were such a huge help for my wedding and I was wondering if I could get your assistance on another type of color palette?
It's for my grandma's 70th birthday in November. I've attached a photo of a cake that is kind of my inspiration so far, but we are so early in the planning I could go in any direction really. I was thinking maybe a blush pink or light peach and gold event. With her birthday being in November, maybe there is another color direction we should go in? She love sparkle (bling!), lace, and homemade.
I'm so excited to be able to help Linda out again!
As far as colors, I think I would do peach and gold with pink accents. Since the party will be in November, the gold will help it be a little more Fall oriented. However you could also throw in some burgundy, or deep red. The picture below, which is also in the color palette, really sums up what I envisioned for this event. Lace with little sparkly details. Feminine and elegant with hints of handmade charm.

I think decorating the tables with little bits of lace would be beautiful, as well as adding little bits of sparkle here and there. If Linda doesn't want to splurge on flowers for the centerpieces, she could do little arrangements of photos of her grandma growing up. Throw some candles in there for a little extra something.

Here is the color palette I designed for Linda's grandma's party. I hope it can help Linda envision what she would like for her grandma's birthday celebration!

For some reason I have always thought that purple was a hard color to pair with anything. However, I proved myself wrong in this color palette. I LOVE these colors for a wedding! Perfect for a winery celebration, a wedding in the country, or dress it up for a formal affair in the city. These colors paired together are really versatile!

To provide you with a bit of background, we will be having a traditional Indian ceremony and a reception to follow. Typically, Indian weddings fall into the maroon, orange and gold palette. Recently there has been a surge of hot pink into the color mix, but that really isn't me. While we want our wedding and reception to be traditional, but I would really like my colors and decor to be unique to our event. My finance's favorite color is blue, so I was thinking that Peacock blue with green and gold accents would be a nice combination for the Indian/Fall wedding that we will be having. I am having a hard time finding inspiration to put these colors into action and was hoping you might be able to help me. I am certainly not limited to those three colors, so any suggestions you might have would be great.

When Roopa emailed me, I immediately was drawn to her chosen colors! I love the end result of this board, and hope it can help Roopa visualize her colors a little bit better. I know her wedding celebration will be absolutely beautiful!

Color Palette: White, Pink and Purple

This color palette is for one of our readers, Emily. She writes:

Lately I'm second guessing everything and I'm really worried that its not all going to come together right. The feel of our wedding...defined by the maid of honor...is old fashioned, simple, elegance. That's what I hope to get across at least. We're sticking to pale pink and whites for all bouquets even on the tables...those will be simple simple arrangements on the tables...
Do you think I should add purple to my palette or should I just keep it with the 2 colors? I know this isn't a huge concern to anyone else I ask but it is to me. I would really appreciate any help you could give me. I love the simplicity of the white and pale pink but I love this purple color too and I just don't know what to do.

To answer Emily's question, yes I think she should incorporate purple into her celebration! Not a whole lot of purple, but as an accent color. Here is what I envision for Emily's celebration.
Bridesmaids: Since the bridesmaid dresses will be purple, there isn't too much of a need to incorporate the color elsewhere in the ceremony. Bridesmaid bouquets could be all pink. Stems could be wrapped in white, purple or pink.
Emily (bride): Emily's dress is the one in the color palette, which I absolutely love. I think her bouquet could be all white, or white with a few hints of pink. She could accessorize with purple shoes to bring the purple color to her outfit.
Groom and groomsmen: Emily tells me the guys are all in tuxes and the groomsmen and dads are wearing a slate gray vest and tie. They could wear a pink or white boutonniere with a little purple in the boutonniere if they wish.
Ceremony decor: I think the people pretty much have the color purple covered. For a little ceremony inspiration I simply LOVE this photo by Jose Villa.

Where to use purple at the reception:
I love the idea of white table cloths, pink and white floral arrangements, and purple napkins. If Emily wanted to have a simpler table, she could use all white linen, pink and white floral and tie it all together with a purple bow. I also love the idea of using fruit. Emily could do the centerpieces in silver vases, and surround table below each centerpiece with grapes still on the stock. She could even intertwine grape vines with the grapes to add a little green. I couldn't find a picture of that exactly, however here is a little inspiration via Oh How Charming.

I love these seating cards via Martha Stewart. Lavender always lends an old fashioned feel, plus its a great way to incorporate the purple color. These can also be used as a favor, as guests can take them home and use them in a drawer to give it a fresh scent.

Another idea for some purple accents would be to tie the chairs with a purple bow. Via The Knot. If its not in the budget to do every chair, consider just doing the bride and groom's chair.

Finally, here is the board I designed for Emily. I hope this post can help her be able to plan the wedding of her dreams!

Color Palette: Dark Red, Light Green with Apricot and Plum accents

This color palette is for one of our readers, Amber. She writes:

I am looking for a fall color scheme that will work with my red hair ;) I have very bright red hair and love the idea of using lots of fall colors, but am afraid I will start to look like a pumpkin or our large wedding party will just look funny. I am almost 30 and want a look that will be elegant and a little sexy, can you help?

For Amber, we decided to go with dark red and light green as her main colors, with apricot and plum accents.
I envision the bridesmaids in dark red dresses with green and red bouquets, such as the bouquet in the color palette. Amber's bouquet could be a combonation of red, green, apricot and plum to pull all the colors together. To incorporate the "sexy", shoes as well as the chosen dresses can help the event be more "sexy". Also, I think the darker the colors make for a sexier event.
To incorporate the colors into the reception, I love the inspiration picture in the color palette by Details Event Planning. The plum colored tent looks beautiful against the accent colors on the tables. I also love the idea of incorporating fruit into the decor. Since most of these colors are fruit colors (red apples, green pears, plum plums and apricot apricots) its a great way to use the accent colors.

Like I have said before, I am so into the color gold right now! When paired with red and white it is so incredibly striking. Color Palette: Crimson Red, Dark Green and Charcoal

Dramatic and one of the greatest actresses of all time, Bette Davis has always been so intriguing to me. At the post office yesterday, I happened to pick up the latest Bette Davis stamp and was completely in awe. The color, the composition, well mostly the color and how she was portrayed. Perfect. I thought, 'What a great color palette this would make!'. So that's what I've done: Made a color palette inspired by the Bette Davis stamp, and by Bette Davis herself. I tried to only use things that I thought went well with Bette as a person, and even managed to find a cake in the right colors with a "B" on it.

This color palette is for one of our readers, Michelle. I love this color combo because it is so unexpected! When I was putting this board together, I was having a hard time making sure the red didn't overpower the peach. When planning your wedding with these colors, you would want to be cautious of the same. Since red is such a powerful color and peach is so soft, you would want to be sure you had a nice balance of both. If pulled off right, these colors can compliment each other perfectly!

Moving right along with color palettes, this one is inspired by Jessica's comment:
I'm getting married next October in an urban loft in L.A., and we're going with a plum/pewter/white color palette to compliment the contemporary vibe of the venue. Our style is an eclectic mix of mid-century modernism and a warm, cozy Moroccan whimsy. It seems that not a lot of people incorporate purple in their weddings, so I'd love to see an inspiration board with lots of plum and eggplant shades.
I had quite a time trying to capture the feeling of the event in this board, while maintaining the color scheme. I can totally picture the event, and hope I was able to help Jessica glean some inspiration.

As I was deciding on colors and a look for the overall board, I was immediately drawn to Moulin Rouge. Hence the name of this color palette. I love the end result of the board and would totally use this theme if not for a wedding, definitely a bridal shower!

Color Palette: White & Navy with Peach and Golden accents

This color palette comes by request of one of our readers, Lauren. She writes:

My fiancé and I will be married next July and we are envisioning an outdoor wedding (either in a vineyard or on his parents’ property). We would like the wedding to be a little more informal but still very sophisticated and elegant. I would like to use a color palette of navy blue and white, with peach and golden (as in the color of wheat) accents. Is this color scheme too bland for a summer, outdoor wedding? We would like to incorporate wheat into our décor, however I’m not sure how to do this in an elegant (as opposed to country charming) way. Do you have any visions or ideas of how to execute this theme?

Here is what I envisioned for Lauren's event:
The Ceremony:
For the ceremony, I would keep things simple in terms of color. You want the focus to be on the bride and groom so keep everything else minimal. Since the ceremony will most likely take place outdoors, you can save money and time by using the surroundings for decoration. Again with keeping everything simple. A couple flower arrangements by the alter, or line the aisle with peach and white rose petals. Below are some tips for keeping the color simple on the wedding party.
Bridesmaids:
I envisioned the bridesmaids in navy, since Lauren (the bride) will be in white, and navy and white are Lauren's two base colors. Since you don't want the bridesmaids to be too flashy, I think simple white bouquets for them would be perfect. The bridesmaids could also carry little fans instead of flowers, such as the fan shown below from Olivia Oberlin. I know I recommend this a lot but I'm a big fan of the fan. =) Especially since it might be a little warm during July. For a little hint of gold, have the bridesmaids wear a gold bracelet or necklace; something delicate and not to flashy. I think short dresses for the bridesmaids would work best, and would make things a little more informal. If they do wear short dresses their shoes will show, and shoes are another great way to bring your color scheme into play! I love the cute ankle strap espadrille sandals shown below from Victoria's Secret. They are casual but still elegant and come in a vast array of colors. In Lauren's case, I would go for the white or natural suede color.

Bride (Lauren):
Lauren's white dress will help play up the color scheme as well. For her jewelry, she can opt for gold instead of silver to help play up the golden accents. If Lauren decides to wear gold jewelry, she will want to make sure its delicate and simple. (See examples below from Yanina Siani) Like I said before, you don't want to overwhelm your guests with color during the ceremony. Lauren's flowers can be white, peach, or a combo of the two. The bouquet stems could be wrapped in white or navy ribbon.

Groom and Groomsmen:
I would dress the groom and groomsmen in white or navy suites, as shown in the color palette. This would help the bride, groom and wedding party look really crisp and the peach and golden would really be accent colors, just as the bride intended. They could help bring the accent colors into the ceremony by wearing peach or golden color ties, and also their boutonnieres can help bring the accent color into play.

The Reception:
Here is where you can bring your accent colors out a little bit more. You still want the focus to be on the bride and groom, but there are lots of little places to play with color in the reception area.
The Tables:
I would stick with white table cloths to keep things cool and elegant. White china will also help bring the color of white into the reception. Navy color napkins will look great against the white table cloths. To bring the gold into the tables, you could tie the napkins with a pretty gold ribbon. If you want floral centerpieces, I would go for peach flowers in a navy bowl or vase, as shown below via khphillips on etsy and trpottery on etsy.

Table runners are also a great way to add a little color. I love the image below via Rebecca Thuss. If you are using rectangle tables, a table runner would be a great way to add a pop of the golden accent color.

Keeping the tables in mind, I envision golden color Chinese paper lanterns (such as the ones below from Luna Bazaar) hanging around the reception area, such as the picture below via The Bride's Cafe. If the celebration is to take place at night or in the evening, you can place candles on the tables. This will add a romantic and elegant ambiance to the area and, since the candles glow a sort of gold color, will help bring "gold" into the reception area as well.

Cake:
I love the cake shown in the color palette. Don't forget, you can incorporate your colors onto your cake and cake table. If the cake is white, play up the table with pops of peach and navy. If you opt for a golden cake, like the one in the color palette, keep the table decor simple so as not to detract from the cake.

Some other areas to keep in mind for introducing your color would be the escort card table, the bar should you have one, buffet also should you have one.

This color palette was inspired by this wedding dress from brides.com. I love the vintage feel the picture has so I tried to give the color palette a vintage look as well. Again, I was able to incorporate an invitation by Zenadia Design into the color palette and I am so excited about it! This color palette would be perfect for an evening affair in the spring or summer, or a lavish fall or winter wedding. Incorporating more pink into the color palette would definitely make it more spring friendly!

Monday we featured some cute dresses from Victoria's Secret that would be great for bridesmaids! Today I have taken one of those dresses and used it in a color palette! I can see these colors used in a hot spring celebration, a sunny beach theme wedding or even a warm fall wedding. It all depends on the setting and the elements you infuse into your wedding. I love these colors because they are so versatile!
This is also one of the first color palettes I designed where I have actually included an invitation by Zenadia Design in the color palette! Very exciting. =)

This color palette question is from one of our readers, Jessica. She writes:

My fiance and I are getting married in November. I really want the wedding to have a sophisticated yet warm and laid-back feeling rather than a traditional fall harvest theme. I have really been struggling with the color palette - in general, I gravitate toward neutral shades and cool tones, but I don't want the wedding to be bland or stark. I have been toying with the idea of green, gray, and rust, but am not entirely certain that this would work. We're having a small wedding party, so a line of bridesmaids dresses proclaiming our color scheme doesn't work. Also, we're trying to keep our cost down by eliminating things like specialty linens, favors, programs, menus, etc. Thus, our color scheme is limited to flowers, the maid off honor dress, flower girl dress, and paper goods.
Do you have any ideas how to pull off the gray, green, and rust?

I know Fall colors can be hard to work with, especially if you don't want it to be Harvest-y looking! Here are some ideas for Jessica on how to incorporate rust, green and charcoal colors into her wedding:
Maid of Honor: I would put the maid of honor in a rust color dress, such as the one in the color palette from Lazaro Bridal. Her flowers could either be different shades of green, or similar to the bouquet in the color palette; that is, rust color flowers with pops of green. As for jewelry, the maid of honor could wear jadeite green jewelry which is very vintage looking. Jadeite jewelry can be found on etsy, antique shops, or by searching online. Don't forget about the shoes! Shoes can also help bring your color scheme into focus. The maid of honor could wear charcoal, rust, or green shoes to help bring the color into the celebration.
Bride (Jessica): Jessica could also carry rust color flowers with pops of green, tied with charcoal ribbon. She can even have a charcoal ribbon sash around her dress (if style permits) to incorporate this color into the celebration more.
Groom and Groomsmen: The boys could wear charcoal color suites, such as the one pictured below in the color palette. They could have rust color boutonnieres with a small amount of greenery to incorporate the green color.
Reception
For the tables, I think I would opt for cream or ivory color table cloths. This way, if you decide to do rust color florals with green, they will pop off the table cloth color. Plus they will look really fresh against a neutral shade such as cream. If you are having paper napkins for the cake or cocktail hour you could have those in any one of the three colors to incorporate the color scheme there.
Paper goods such as invitations and table numbers are a great way to proclaim your color scheme, especially since the invitation is basically the introduction to your event. If you decide to work with a custom designer they can provide many personalized options of ways to proclaim your colors via your invitation.
For the flowers, you can ask your florist what is in season in November in rust and green colors. They will be able to direct you to wonderful choices for the look you are going for.

Another color option for Jessica would be our Golden Yellow, Rust and Indigo color palette. We posted about it here, but here is a picture of it again. This palette would give her the sophisticated fall colors she is looking for as well.

Color Palette: Black, Yellow and Pink

For some reason, whenever I design a color palette with bright pink I'm not happy with the results. Its not that I don't like the color, its more that I am extremely picky about what I put on my blog. =) When I designed this color palette, I decided it was blog worthy so here it is!
I like how the black acts as a base color, with the yellow and pink as sunny bright accent colors that really pop off the black. This would be great for a wedding in the summer, spring or fall. I love that you can really dress these colors up or down, depending on the mood you wish to have at your event.

Last week we posted a color palette with seafoam, white and black and I said that this week we would be taking some of the same colors from the seafoam, white and black color palette and making into a whole different look. Well here it is! Black is substituted for light brown. I love how you can take the same colors, and even some of the same pictures and make a color palette with a completely different feel. The other color palette was very formal, while this one has a casual feeling. The bridesmaid's dress and bouquet are the same in both palettes, yet they could be used in either setting.

Color Palette: Deep Red, Muted Pinks and Peaches

This board is for one of our readers, Valerie. Valerie is getting married at a breathtaking winery in California, during the month of July. Her dress is a beautiful blush color so she wanted to have her color scheme coordinate with that. Besides having beautiful colors that would also compliment the lush surroundings of the venue, Valerie wanted to model her celebration after the garden party in the movie Sabrina. That is, people all dressed up at an outdoor party, complete with vintage touches. Here are my ideas for Valerie, and the color palette I designed for her with the help of Abby, at Style Me Pretty.
Ideas for the ceremony:
Bridesmaids: Incorporating the vintage feel into your celebration can be fairly easy by simply dressing from a certain era. By that I mean this: Have the bridesmaids do their hair with a vintage flair, such as the picture below from here. Or have them accessorize with vintage jewelry such as this. Don't forget about the shoes! You can incorporate vintage touches into your wedding by picking shoes with vintage style. Also, instead of having them carry flowers, what about a beautiful vintage fan? Or you can have the maid of honor carry flowers and the other bridesmaids carry fans such as the one pictured below from here. Since the bridesmaid dresses will have that pop of color, I would opt for more muted colors for the bouquets, such as the flowers in the top right corner of the color palette.

Bride (Valerie): To create a vintage look, Valerie can take some of the same tips from the bridesmaids and use them herself such as vintage jewelry or a vintage inspired hairstyle. Another great way to get that vintage inspired look is to wear a birdcage veil, such as the one pictured in the color palette. If the bridesmaids carry a muted bouquet of flowers, Valerie can opt for a bouquet that would match the girls dresses, such as the one pictured below by Modern Day Design. Or, in keeping with the muted palette, she could also carry beautiful blooms to match her blush colored dress, with little pops of color.

Reception ideas:
The reception will be held inside and outside. In keeping with the vintage garden party theme I suggest the following:
Have large silver ice buckets, such as the ones in Sabrina that held the champagne, filled with drinks for your guests. If there is a bar area, model it after the one in Sabrina with beautiful glasses that look like they are on display but are really to be used!
If the reception will be when it is dark, keep the lighting outside dim, and the lighting inside bright. I noticed this seemed to be the case in Sabrina and I love it. Dim lights are always romantic and will add to the mood of the evening. Candles can help keep the atmosphere romantic and beautiful.
Last but not least, if you really want to get into the garden party theme and incorporate a vintage feel, ask your guests to dress in formal 1940's fashion. In the invitation you can include this request, as well as ideas for the men and women on what to wear. I know I always like to dress up and if I'm asked to dress with vintage style, all the better! =)

At last, here is the color palette for Valerie. I hope this palette and my ideas can help Valerie plan her dream wedding with lots of little vintage touches.

When putting together this board, I couldn't quite capture the feeling I wanted to evoke so I'll put it in words.
For this event, I pictured something formal, complete with black and white damask and crystals (as seen in the middle picture). I pictured the event taking place at a posh downtown club or restaurant, or a swanky hotel. These colors could be less formal also, depending upon how everyone dressed, the floral arrangements, etc.
Next week we will be taking some of the same colors from this color palette and making them into a whole different look. Stay tuned.

When I started doing this color palette, I was going for an all white board with pink undertones, but as I worked on it more, I decided to go in this direction; that is, blush and white. I think it came out very delicate and whimsical looking. To be honest, I couldn't quite visualize where I can see a wedding with these colors taking place....perhaps a vineyard in the springtime? Or a beautiful countryside church? What can you envision for this color palette?

When I see purple (depending on its shade) it usually reminds me of something regal, and that's exactly what I think of when I see this palette. Color Palette: Red and Yellow

To bring our color palette week to an end, I've created a happy vibrant red and yellow palette. These colors would be perfect for a sunny summer wedding. I just love the happy feel it evokes.

Color Palette: Peach and White

Today's color palette is a romantic peach and white. I don't think peach is a very popular color for weddings (although it should be!) because it was so hard to find peachy wedding pictures! At any rate, here is what I came up with. For this event I envision delicate white table linens, adorned with peach flowers and silver candle holders. I can see this color palette used in a beautiful winery or park like setting; a delicate romantic affair.

Color Palette: Green, Brown and White

Believe it or not, this color palette was actually inspired by my bathroom. That's right I said bathroom. I have this display of old glassware on my counter top with a vase of brown branches and my bathroom is painted green (see the picture below).

I changed the green in the color palette to a little brighter green than is actually in my bathroom. I love the end result! I have to say how much in love I am with the cake in the color palette!! It is by Jan Kish-La Petite Fleur of Columbus, Ohio. I envision this color palette for a beautiful country club wedding, or an event at a chic downtown restaurant.

Color Palette: Glamorous Black, Silver and Light Pink

Romantic and glamorous are words that come to mind for today's color palette. Pink, black and silver can help create a beautiful, romantic event, perfect for a vintage hotel or a beautiful English garden. For this color palette I can envision centerpieces of flowers and feathers and beautiful candlelight, classical music played by a string quartet playing in the background and delightful delicate food to munch on.

Color Palette: Romantic Blue and White

It's color palette week at Zenadia Design! We'll be featuring one color palette a day this week so be sure to check back and see what we've come up with!
To kick off Monday we've paired blue and white with a romantic end result. Blue and white are such versatile colors. They can be paired together to create a nautical look, a glamorous look, a classic look, and the list continues. Here, I have taken inspiration from a photo from Oia, Sanatori, Greece to create this color palette. (Photo is located in the top left corner.) I envision a classic look for this blue and white color palette. Something casual and romantic, complete with candlelight and wispy sheer curtains to create rooms and a beautiful ambiance.

Color Palette: Vintage Glamour with Brown, Champagne and Red

Today's color palette is for another one of our readers, Linda. Linda is getting married in a beautiful church and having her reception at an equally beautiful club. Linda wanted a color palette with shades of brown and champagne with pops of red. She also wanted to incorporate a vintage feel into her wedding, similar to the vintage feel her engagement ring has. Here are my ideas for Linda, and the color palette I designed for her.
Ideas for the ceremony:
Bridesmaids: I can see them in elegant, long brown dresses, such as the one pictured in the color palette, with faux fur wraps such as these. (picture from here)

Their flowers can be similar to the bouquet pictured in the color palette at the top. You can change the dark flowers to red, or to incorporate pops of red into the ceremony you can wrap the stems of the bouquets in red ribbon.
Bride (Linda): I can see Linda in a dress similar to the one in the color palette, minus the hat. Her flowers can be like the bridesmaid's bouquets but slightly altered to include maybe a little more red, or no red at all. I can see the stems of her bouquet wrapped in crystals, or with a crystal monogram. Something sparkly to give it a little glamour.
For the reception:
I envisioned champagne colored table cloths with brown napkins and red floral centerpieces, such as the flowers located in the bottom portion of the color palette. To continue with the vintage theme, the floral centerpieces can be placed on faux fur and the faux fur can be sprinkled with swarovski crystals, again to give it a little glamour. Faux fur can be purchased here, or you can search for it at your local fabric stores. Linda's reception site reminded me somewhat of the club from the movie The Aviator. Here is a picture from the movie, taken in the fictional club. (Picture from here) Linda could also do something like the picture, and have little lamps on each table to give the setting a more intimate feel. If you haven't seen The Aviator, I would recommend watching it just for the sets and costumes; they are SO neat and very vintage.

Last but not least, here is the color palette I designed for Linda. I hope this can help her get an idea of what she wants and plan a gorgeous glamorous event!

Color Palette: Vintage Blush and Red

This color palette is for one of our readers, Courtney. Courtney is getting married at a farm in October, and wasn't sure how to incorporate a "happy vintage feeling" into her wedding with her chosen color scheme, blush and red. To be honest, I had a bit of a tricky time trying to convey pictorially the feeling I wanted to evoke. I just couldn't seem to find the pictures I was looking for, so I will attempt to explain what I envisioned for this event with the help of the color palette below. I've added some fall colors such as dark orange and golden yellow to give the wedding an autumny feel.
I can see the bridesmaids in red dresses, as Courtney had already chosen, with the bouquet pictured middle right. Their hair can be done in a 1920's style do (pictured below via Bride's Head Revisited), or they can wear vintage style shoes to help evoke the vintage theme.

Courtney's dress is blush and is similar to Stephanie James style dresses. I can see her with a bouquet similar to the colors in the arrangement pictured bottom left and wearing a veil similar to the one below by Stephanie James Couture. She can even wear cute red shoes to bring her favorite color into the outfit.
For the reception I picture light brown, or khaki colored table cloths with antique silver pitchers serving as vases for the flower arrangement pictured bottom left. Possibly a few candles to add a romantic vintage feel. Another option for centerpieces would be vintage tins in place of the silver pitchers. This would be a little more casual. Vintage post cards could serve as the table numbers only instead of the table having a number, it could correspond with what is on the postcard. For instance if it is a vintage postcard from Santa Barbara, California, the table "number" would be Santa Barbara, CA. Another fun way to incorporate the vintage theme would be to set up an ice cream bar, similar to the ones that were popular in the 40's and 50's. I'm not sure if this has ever been done at a wedding, and for an October wedding it might be a little chilly so instead a candy bar could be set up, such as the one pictured below from Rebecca Thuss. The candy could be displayed in apothecary jars to give it an old fashion feel.

I hope this color palette and my suggestions can help Courtney create the wedding of her dreams.

Color Palette: Black and White Glamour

A little while back I posted on the black wedding dress, originally seen on Parisian Party. I wanted to do a color palette around the black dress so I created a black and white palette. I didn't want a mish mash of color to detract from the originality of the dress so I kept color simple. I also didn't want the black and white to be boring so I decided to go with a glamourous look, while still maintaining the classic look the colors offer. I can see this wedding for a beautiful winter affair, perfect for December or Janurary.

Color Palette: Hollywood Glamour with scarlet, white and black

I absolutely LOVE old Hollywood. Give me an old movie with a warm blanket and I'm in heaven. I have to say I actually prefer old movies over the new ones. There is just something classic and timeless about Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant (or any old movie star for that matter!). When I decided to put a Hollywood Glamour board together, you can imagine how excited I was. What added to my excitement, was that I was able to include one of my friends in the board! My good friend Angela is on the bottom row, second from the left. The picture is of her as a bridesmaid at her brother's wedding. Doesn't she look just like an old Hollywood star getting ready to go out to a big event? I love it.

To make things even more exciting, the Los Angeles theatre that's pictured in the board is actually available to rent for events! What a perfect place for a reception with an old Hollywood theme. The inside of the theatre is completely restored and is gorgeous. Take a look at their website for more pictures of this wonderful theatre.

Color Palette: a Seaside Wedding with Pink and Light Brown

For some reason I have been really into color palette's lately. This one was inspired by some shells that I have (pictured bottom row, middle). I love the outcome of this board. The beach gives it a casual feel, but the colors and decor lean towards an elaborate and sumptuous event, perfect for spring or summer.

Color Palette: Indigo, Rust and Golden Yellow

This color palette was inspired by a living room from Pottery Barn. The picture of the room is located in the top right corner of the color palette board. I envision this pallet for a chic autumn wedding. A casual affair with a classic modern vibe.

Color Palette: Light Blue, Grey and Red

Here is my first attempt at a color palette. This one was actually inspired by the rain. I was out driving yesterday and I looked up and saw a seagull flying overhead and behind it were dark grey rain clouds and a patch of blue sky. Hence the light blue, grey and white (from the seagull). I threw in hints of red to make the color scheme pop a little. I envision this pallet for an August or September wedding, filled with lace and crystal. Something glamorous with a touch of whimsy.
